My love of mending and altering clothes comes from my love of our planet and desire to take care of her. I buy most of my supplies second hand, checking local thrift stores like Scraplanta for thread, notions, sewing machine parts, and fabrics. If I'm not able to find what I need, I turn to online second-hand retailers. Only if I strike out there will I buy something new.
I use scraps from sewing projects to make patches and panels for altered garments. I try to keep my alterations adaptable, so they can be let out or taken in more as needed in the future, extending their life even further.
Wear It Out! holds a double meaning for me: I both want you to keep your clothes until they're worn beyond repair, and wear those clothes out as often as you can until that point.
Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without.
